Dateline: 26th October, 2003 Chicken Shed Theatre Is 30! The Chicken Shed Theatre of North London which now boasts to be Europe's largest theatre company is about to celebrate its 30th Anniversary. The past 30 years have been very turbulent for Chicken Shed. From a humble barn, Chicken Shed now has a magnificent purpose built theatre with a 300 seat auditorium, a thriving studio theatre, a bar and restaurant that hosts music evenings and jazz nights, and an amphitheatre with amazing gardens. Co founders Jo Collins and Mary Ward had a clear vision when Chicken Shed began life in 1974 to produce original, exciting work and to strive for excellence, whilst remaining true to their belief that the theatre belongs to everyone. 30 years on that vision is still as real. Jo and Mary remain at the helm of this unique Company and continue to plan the next 30 years with the same passionate enthusiasm. To celebrate the 30 years Chicken Shed will be performing their very successful original Christmas production of A Night Before Christmas. A musical extravaganza for the whole family. The story commences on Christmas Eve. There is a room full of selfish children and a sack full of presents, but they are the wrong presents. They are addressed to The Ugly Sisters? Scrooge? The Snow Queen?. Its all been a terrible mix up, but now the children must embark on the journey of a lifetime to return the presents to their rightful owners and just maybe save Christmas. Oh! And all by midnight. Easy Peasy you might think. Chicken Shed have taken a host of favourite Christmas characters, a liberal dose of magic, a couple of reindeer, a sofa that flies and the audience will follow the childrens adventures through the Night Before Christmas. Please note. Contains singing, dancing, laughing, smiling, crying, two hundred people and one happy ending. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
