On target: The Twelfth Player

Two children with basic football and acting skills are needed for a 45-minute film that will used in a live event in Northampton.

Northampton’s Royal and Derngate will stage The Twelfth Player at the town’s Sixfields Stadium, home of Northampton Town FC. Viewers will see the world of football through the eyes of three generations of a family of Cobblers supporters and will find themselves in the middle of the action.

The theatre is looking for a boy with a playing age of between 9 and 12 and a girl with a playing age of between 9 and 13. Children should be physical and energetic, with a sense of playfulness. A creative dance or movement background could be an advantage.

Time off school will be needed for rehearsing and filming the voluntary roles during weeks beginning 18 and 24 April (a day and a half each week), and 2 and 8 May (two days each week).

Auditions will be held at Sixfields on Monday 20 February. Audition forms can be downloaded from the Royal and Derngate web site and must be returned by 6PM on Thursday 16 February.

The Twelfth Player will be staged at Sixfields Stadium on various dates from 17 May until 11 July.
