Ballet Wales (Ballet Cymru) is bringing its Cinderella with a modern twist to Newcastle’s Dance City on 26 and 27 October.
Combining classical ballet with circus elements and an entirely new musical score, this version promises to be out of the ordinary. The company has been collaborating with Citrus Arts to take their choreography to new heights with acrobatic additions and, to complement this new choreography, composer Jack White has produced a new musical score reflecting his signature style of fusing electro-acoustic composition with traditional ensembles.
Clearly Ballet Wales is determined to live up to Deborah Weiss of Dance Europe’s description of it as “a small enterprise with a great deal to shout about.”
Cinderella will be performed at Dance City on Friday 26 October at 7:30 and Saturday 27 October at 1:30. Tickets can be obtained from the Dance City web site or the box office on 0191 261 0505.
