Spring at Clwyd Theatr Cymru The spring season at the Clwyd Theatr Cymru kicks off this week with the Welsh premier of Cariad, Sophie Stanton's raucously comic take on friendship, loss and love. Cariad, first premiered in London in 2005 to critical acclaim, is the latest in Clwyd's New Play Initiative, under the directorship of Phillip Breen, who most recently directed the premier of Meredydd Barker's Two Princes. The company will also present A Midsummer Night's Dream, which will open in Mold on February 7, before transferring to Cardiff's New Theatre on March 4. Clwyd's Associate Director, Tim Baker, directs a cast of seventeen in the first of a Shakespeare-dominated season at Clwyd, with Measure for Measure (to be directed by Phillip Breen) just announced for April, and Macbeth (directed by Terry Hands) in May. Clwyd Theatr Cymru's Spring brochure will be available from February 4, and further details are available on their website. Allison Vale
