Award-winning stand-up comedian Nina Gilligan brings her new play Rescued to the King's Arms in Salford, July 3 to 5, as part of Greater Manchester Fringe.
Mum-of-two Nina worked for Greater Manchester probation service and in special needs education until seven years ago when she launched a career as a stand-up. She has also written for children's theatre, but Rescued is her first "grown-up" play.
"Scruffy is the dog that is the real-life inspiration. He came from a rescue centre and now he has got a brilliant CV. He's been in a film. He has his own production company and he's just taken over a Labour club."
