Street of DreamsThe arena tour of Coronation Street musical Street of Dreams has been postponed by the producers after its opening in Manchester last week.

In a short official statement, producers Reckless Entertainment said that despite receiving "standing ovations" in Manchester, they are "now keen to revisit the production and further develop ideas for the UK tour".

However The Stage newspaper got hold of an e-mail that was sent to cast and crew that was rather more frank about the problems with a show that was largely panned by the critics.

Reckless's John Ward said in the e-mail that the production team, "are far from happy with the show artistically and we are not prepared to take it out again in its present form", describing the show's troubled history so far as "a very rocky ride". He added, "People will be paid but we do need a bit more patience and that may not be what you want to hear".

The producers have said that new dates will soon be announced for Dublin, Belfast and Newcastle and that anyone who has purchased a ticket should contact the venue, presumably for a refund.
