Live Tales

Newcastle’s Live Theatre is looking for volunteers to work in creative writing workshops with children.

Live Tales, the company’s creative writing centre for children and young people, allows children between 7 and 11 years of age (Key Stage 2) to take part in a fun, creative writing workshop that aims to help them explore their imaginations, develop communication skills and grow in confidence. Volunteers work in small groups or one to one to encourage young people to develop their stories.

The emphasis is on creativity; there is never any focus on spelling or grammar.

Live is also looking for volunteer illustrators to bring the young people’s ideas to life by creating illustrations to accompany their story.

Anyone over 18 and a good listener is welcome to volunteer. Volunteering can be part of an organised workplace volunteering scheme, can support your higher or further education course or placement, enhance your CV, or be simply because you have spare time. Current volunteers include students, retired people, teachers, journalists and artists.
