Spend a Night with the Cripps Theatre Resource puts disability reality on the agenda with their new comedy At Home with the Cripps. The media usually portrays disabled people as either having a rotten time or being highly praised for being brave in the face of adversity, says Theatre Resource. Things have got better but there is still a long way to go. At Home with the Cripps is a fast-moving, entertaining drama, where four disabled adults show life as it really is .warts and all. Scripted by Tony Craze, it combines storytelling, physical theatre and a healthy dose of slapstick to reveal the private lives, loves and ambitions of real disabled people. "We laugh, cry, smoke, drink, do good things and bad things. Occasionally we're just downright dirty! It's an ordinary day with the Cripps!" The play was written in response to the lack of real understanding and acceptance of disabled people's lives. The writers feel there are many stories that have not been told and some of these are very funny . embarrassing ...rude . At Home with the Cripps has picked the best stories and turned them into a play featuring some superb performances from professional disabled actors. At Home with the Cripps embarks on a 12-date national tour from 6th May to 3rd June 2005. Visit www.theatre-resource.org.uk for further information. At Home with the Cripps takes place in wheelchair accessible venues and combines integrated sign language interpretation. It contains swearing, drugs references and scenes of a sexual nature.
