The shortlisted nominations for the Critics' Awards For Theatre In Scotland have been announced.
Amongst them are two productions for younger audiences, Dragon (Vox Motus, National Theatre of Scotland and the Tianjin People's Art Theatre, China) and Huff (Shona Reppe and Andy Manley, produced by Catherine Wheels Theatre Company), which between them have eight nominations across six categories.
Another production that features heavily is Dominic Hill’s production of Crime And Punishment which has six nominations, amongst them Best Director for Hill who has previously won CATS Awards in this category for Pinter’s Betrayal and Peer Gynt.
Matthew Lenton’s The Beautiful Cosmos Of Ivor Cutler and Stewart Laing’s Paul Bright's Confessions Of A Justified Sinner both have four nominations.
Occasional award recognising outstanding contribution to Scottish theatre, CATS Whiskers, will be conferred on the Imaginate Festival.
The 2014 Critics’ Awards for Theatre in Scotland were open to professional theatre work produced in Scotland between May 2013 and April 2014.
190 new productions were considered of which 127 were new plays / scripts and 39 productions created for children and young people.
