Jacobi Headlines New Crucible Season

Sir Derek Jacobi will play Prospero in the Sheffield Crucible's first production of the 2002-2003 season, The Tempest. Directed by Michael Grandage, who is to take over as artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse, the production runs from 25th September to 19th October. Daniel Evans will play Ariel.

The season also includes:

  • Teeth 'n' Smiles by David Hare, starring Amanda Donohoe, which runs from 30th October to 23rd November
  • Sweet Charity (book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields) - 12th December to 25th January
  • Macbeth by William Shakespeare (29th Januay to 22nd February)
  • Iphigenia (Euripides, in a new version by Edna O'Brien), from 5th February to 1st March
  • The Firework-Maker's Daughter, a children's play by Philip Pulman (12th March to 5th April)
  • Four new plays (details to be announced), from 21st May to 21st June.

Grandage has announced that he will remain as an associate director at the Crucible, even after he takes up his Donmar appointment.
