“Ambitious”: The Festival of Imagineers in Coventry

A week-long programme of interactive exhibitions, workshops and activities will mark the third year of The Festival of Imagineers in Coventry.

It is run by Imagineer Productions, a creative company specialising in cultural events and celebrations “whose ambitious work combines imagination, creativity, engineering and spectacle”.

Imagineer is best known for its Cultural Olympiad project, Godiva Awakes. Its mission is to “create world-class events, harnessing the imagination of street artists, engineers and children to tell universal stories in new and extraordinary ways in outdoor spaces, creating beauty and human connections where you least expect them”.

Throughout the week, people can collaborate, respond to and share their ideas, with a series of artists including Nick Martin who created Imagineer’s Godiva, visual artist Julia O’Connell and writer Chris O’Connell from Coventry’s Theatre Absolute.

Imagineer’s chief executive Jane Hytch said, “we’re delighted to welcome companies from Hungary, Italy and Spain to perform alongside our colleagues from across the UK and Coventry. People will encounter some special street theatre in and around the city.”

The festival runs from Monday 26 September until Saturday 1 October. The full programme is available at the Imagineer Productions’ web site.
