Every year, The Journal, the NE’s regional morning newspaper, recognises the cultural life of the region with its Culture Awards. The theatre-related winners for 2014, announced at a ceremony at Sunderland Minster on 30 June, are:

Port of Tyne and various partners. - Best Event Tyneside (supported by Newcastle University)
Great North Passion (The Cultural Spring) - Best Event Teesside (supported by Teesside University)
Jabberwocky Market (Darlington) - Best Overall Event of the Year
