Contemporary: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Leicester’s Curve is looking for performers from its community to join the casts of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and its Christmas 2017 production of Scrooge.

Curve chief executive Chris Stafford and artistic director Nikolai Foster said in a joint statement, “working alongside our communities is at the heart of what we do, and we’re proud to offer opportunities for so many local folk across these two productions.”

People of all ages, abilities and cultural backgrounds will be welcomed and no previous performance experience is necessary.

A Midsummer’s Night Dream will be a contemporary production of Shakespeare’s classic and will run in August. For the first time Curve will bring together its young company and community actors, making it one of the theatre’s most ambitious productions to date.

Young people are needed to play the Cratchit family’s childen and other roles in a new version of Leslie Bricusse’s family musical Scrooge, adapted from Dickens's A Christmas Carol. Applicants need to be between 8 and 21.

Anyone interested in auditioning should apply at the Curve web site. Forms for A Midsummer Night’s Dream should be returned by Tuesday 7 March and for Scrooge by Saturday 1 July.
