Curve Announces First Season

Curve, Leicester's new performing arts venue which opens in December, has announced its first season of performances in its two venues, one seating 750 and one 350.

The opening show will be Simply Cinderella, a new musical with music and lyrics by Grant Olding and book by Toby Davies. It will be directed and choreographed by Adam Cooper and opens on 9th December (previews from 4th), running until 24th January.

The in-house productions for the first season are:

11th February (previews from 5th) to 7th March
The Pillowman

Directed by the venue's artistic director, Paul Kerryson

3rd - 24th March (previews from 26th February)
As You Like It
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Tim Supple

5th - 23rd May (previews from 30th April)
The Light in the Piazza
A musical (2005 Tony Award-winner for Best Original Score) by Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas: UK premiere
Directed by Kerryson

The only UK regional date for this dance piece which premeres at the National Thetare on 18th September

The Moon the Moon
By Unlimited Theatre

His Dark Materials, Part 1
By Philip Pullman, adapted for the stage by Nicholas Wright
A community production directed by Adel-Al-Salloum

"Curve's first season of shows plays to the strengths of our unique theatre, with a truly exciting body of work that puts the classical and contemporary side-by-side," said Kerryson. "We hope to create a destination for everyone, from audience to artist, as we make the first step in our creative journey together."
