Bullying Harming British Dance, Says Sleep Boys who are interested in becoming dancers are being bullied in schools, says dancer Wayne Sleep. "Children are being victimised for daring to take up dancing," he said." Steps have to be taken if British ballet is to flourish once more." The added that one boy he taught had his feet crushed in three places by bullies, while yobs at another school superimposed a photo of the head of another dancer on the body of a woman and plastered the image around around the corridors. Sleep also criticised schools for lack of interest and for not taking steps to prevent the bullying of would-be dancers and for not teaching dance in school. "Don't they realise," he asked, "that dance could be used in the war against childhood obesity?" Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
