Fully integrated BSL and captioning: Treasure Island

A pirate-filled production for all the family, an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island will be the big spring 2020 show at Derby Theatre.

The production is adapted by Theresa Heskins, artistic director of Newcastle-under-Lyme’s New Vic Theatre and will feature Beth Hinton Lever as Long John Silver.

It will run at Derby Theatre from Saturday 28 March until Saturday 11 April and all performances will have fully integrated BSL and captioning.

In its spring season, the theatre will again collaborate with Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch to present Shakespeare’s Macbeth from Tuesday 3 until Saturday 14 March.

Derby Theatre and Pilot Theatre will then mount a co-production, the world première of an adaptation of Alex Wheatle’s novel Crongton Knights, from Tuesday 17 until Saturday 21 March.

Other highlights include Derby-born Gwen Taylor’s return in the thriller The Croft, a new play based on a true story, from Monday 27 January until Saturday 1 February, and Northern Broadsides’ presentation of J M Barrie’s farce Quality Street from Tuesday 14 until Saturday 18 April.
