Douglas Hodge
Rob Ashford

New Associate, New Season at the Donmar

From May Douglas Hodge joins the Donmar Warehouse as associate director. Hodge is best known as an actor on both television and the stage, and most recently he created the role of Nathan Detroit in the Donmar's production of Guys and Dolls. Previous directorial credits include See How They Run both on tour and in the West End at the Duchess.

The Donmar's artistic director Michael Grandage said, "I have known Doug for more than 25 years and regard him as one of the most exciting creative individuals in our profession. I have asked him to join us all at the Donmar as we look ahead to developing our work over the next few years. His vision and experience will enhance the existing resources within the company and build a framework for the future."

Hodge will direct the third production of the 2007 season, Absurdia (31st July - 8th September, previews from 26th July), a celebration of British Absurdist playwrights N F Simpson and Michael Frayn, consisting of Simpson's A Resounding Tinkle and Gladly Otherwise, and the world premiere of Frayn’s The Crimson Hotel.

The first production will be the already announced Kiss of the Spiderwoman, directed by Charlotte Westernra, which will be followed by a revival of Pinter's Betrayal (5th June - 21st July, previews from 31st May), directed by Roger Mitchell.

The fourth production of the season will be Alfred Uhry and Jason Robert Brown’s musical Parade (24th September - 24th November, previews from 14th September). It will be directed by Rob Ashford, best known as the choreographer of Guys and Dolls and Evita (Adelphi).
