Dateline: 14th October, 2005
Robert Lepage's The Dragons' Trilogy, which sold out at the Barbican recently as part of the Young Genius season, is to play at The Lowry, Salford Quays, for just three performancs on 11th, 12th and 13th November. The epic show - almost five an a half hours in length - is at 5pm on Friday 11th and 3pm on the other days in the venue's Lyric Theatre. This will be the production's only performances outside of London.# The BTG's Philip Fisher said in his review: 'There is something seductive and addictive about Robert Lepage's mammoth works such as The Dragons' Trilogy and the even longer Seven Streams of the River Ota that can leave fans sounding like Oliver Twist. It is hard to believe that after five and a half hours in a not terribly comfortable theatre you could possibly want to say it but an immediate reaction as the lights finally go down, is "Please sir, I want some more".' This piece shows off Lepages mastery of space, sound and light. The simple set contains a hut magically transformed into scarlet-lit Chinese laundry, Toronto shoe shop, x-ray lab and airport kiosk and includes soldiers ice skating, nuns on bicycles and mopeds Time Out called it Technically Breathtaking A firework show for the intellect. The running time of 5 hours, 24 minutes includes 3 intervals and The Lowry Restaurant is offering a range of dining options. Two and three course pre-theatre dinners and post-show suppers are just £15.95/£17.95. During the long interval (40 minutes) a single course buffet style meal including wine or soft drink is available for £17.50. Reservations should be made when booking tickets with the box office (0870 787 5793). Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
