Touring to the Dukes

The Dukes in Lancaster has announced a programme of incoming touring shows for autumn that it claims is its biggest-ever.

Max Stafford-Clark's Out of Joint Theatre Company will bring its co-production with Bolton's Octagon Theatre Mixed Up North set in Burnley, physical comedy group Spymonkey will perform its own version of Herman Melville's classic seafaring novel Moby Dick and Newcastle company Live Theatre will perform Motherland about women left behind by the men fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Fresh from Edinburgh, Linda Marlowe will perform a stage version of new Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy's collection The World's Wife, and God Bless The Child tells the story of blues legend Billie Holiday and is performed by Katrina Beckford.

For young audiences, Théâtre Sans Frontières performs adventure comedy Les Trois Mousquetaires in French, En Masse brings its story of the great plague We All Fall Down and Box Clever will perform its urban ghost story Time for the Good Looking Boy, plus younger children will be able to experience the puppets of Handheld Theatre in Time for Tea and DNA Puppetry and Visual Theatre in Ball Pond Bobby.

As well as the theatre programme, there are music events and comedy performances. More details plus booking details are on the theatre's web site at www.dukes-lancaster.org/.
