Dukes New Season The Dukes in Lancaster has announced the main productions in its programme for the first half of 2011. It opens the year with the première of a new play by a local writer. Quicksand by Ulverston playwright Zosia Wand is said to be a moving look at relationships, family secrets and expectations. In March, there will be a revival of Jim Cartwright's tale of a shy Lancashire girl with a talent for singing like the great divas The Rise and Fall of Little Voice. Former Dukes director, now artistic director of Bolton's Octagon Theatre, David Thacker will return to Lancaster in May with a short run of his Octagon production of Arthur Miller's The Price. As always, the season will end with the traditional outdoor summer production in Williamson Park, which next year will celebrate the event's 25th anniversary with Merlin and The Legend of King Arthur. Visiting theatre productions will include Daniel Kitson's The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church in February, The Day the Waters Came about Hurricane Katrina in March and Boxed Romeo and Juliet in April.
