Autumn in Dundee Dundee Rep Theatre has announced its Autumn 2009 season, a season which marks the 10th Anniversary of Dundee Rep Ensemble. Productions from the Ensemble include Chekhov's classic The Cherry Orchard, Bernard Pomerance's The Elephant Man and family entertainment this Christmas with Dickens's classic A Christmas Carol. Scottish Dance Theatre returns home to the Rep after an international tour and perform two classic works. Touring dance, drama, comedy and music complete a varied autumn season. Dundee Rep Ensemble's first production this season is The Cherry Orchard (1 - 19 Sep) and visiting Russian Director Vladimir Bouchler directs. The Rep's new Associate Director, Jemima Levick, directs The Elephant Man (17 - 31 Oct) and the final Ensemble production this seaon is Charles Dickens' family favorite A Christmas Carol (30 Nov - 2 Jan). Scottish Dance Theatre will perform at the Rep (20 Nov) after touring to China and Dubai, performing two pieces, A Visitation by Ina Christel Johnnessen and LUXURIA by award-winning choreographer Liv Lorent. Great Big Dance Show (21 Nov) will again showcase dancers from different groups throughout the city and beyond sharing their love of performing. Also included in autumn 2009 season are a wide range of touring drama, music and comedy, including Neil Gunn's Scottish drama The Silver Darlings (22 - 26 Sep), For A' That - The Event (29 Sep), a Homecoming performance by pupils from a Dundee school, St John's Homecoming Musical (30 Sep - 1 Oct) and the two-man play On Our Way to Lisbon (2 Oct). The National Theatre of Scotland brings Rona Munro's major new version of Federico Garcia Lorca's The House of Bernarda Alba (6 - 10 Oct), which is directed by John Tiffany and features Siobhan Redmond. Dancers create mayhem in a thrilling and colourful show Mischief (4 Nov) and the hilarious comedy The Steamie is back (9 - 14 Nov). Dundee Rep Ensemble produced its first show, A Midsummer Night's Dream, back in autumn 1999. Sixty eight productions and 2,246 performances later the company has established itself as an award-winning and internationally recognized producer of excellent and exciting theatre. The company will celebrate its many successes throughout the next twelve months. More details will follow later.
