The Durham Summer Streets Festival returns to the city on the August Bank Holiday weekend (23 and 24 August, 2014). Performances will also take place in Bishop Auckland on Saturday 23 and Barnard Castle on Monday 25.

This year’s line-up includes street clown Pedro, who performs a tale of immortal love, heroes, villains and balloon sculpting; the Space Cowboy, the only person to have won the Street Performance World Championships more than once; and family favourite Maynard Flip Flap.

Fatt Matt, the winner of 2012’s Durham Streets People’s Choice award, returns to perform the incredibly dangerous and complex one-fingered handstand, while festival first-timers include pogo expert Ernest the Magnifico, daredevil acrobatic Felicity Footloose, comedy double act Garaghty and Thom and Australian juggler J-P Koala.

On Saturday there will be performances between 11:30AM and 5PM in Millennium Square and the Matket Place, along with buskers performing on Framwellgate and Elvet Bridges between 12 and 4.

Also present will be Theatre Hullabaloo's Travelling Treasury, a mini-theatre offering a story telling experience that takes places in a beautifully transformed caravan. Audiences are invited to step inside the pages of a book and where stories unfold, quite literally before their eyes.

On Saturday events will also take place in the Market Place in Bishop Auckland between 11 and 3.

On Sunday events are in Durham only between 11:30 and 5, this time in the Market Place only.

On Monday the Festival moves to Scar Top in Barnard Castle between 12 and 4.
