Can Dyslexics Write? DYS(the)LEXI is to present Dysming Monadys, a mini festival celebrating a diverse group of dyslexic writers, poets and filmmakers, from 2nd June to 24th November at The Troy Bar, Hoxton St, London. DYSMING MONADYS runs on the first Monday of the month up until September and then every Monday until November 24th, as part of Adult Dyslexia Awareness Week. DYS(the)LEXI believes that being diagnosed with dyslexia is not a disadvantage. Although people with dyslexia have problems with literary skills, organisation and other "left-brained" activities, they are often creative and imaginative, with stronger abilities on the right side of their brains than many other people. With that in mind the organisation is holding Dysming Monadys to encourage people with dyslexia to indulge their imaginations and prove to the world, and to themselves, that creative dyslexics are original storytellers. The organisation is calling upon dyslexics to submit their work for possible inclusion. It is looking for 24 dyslexic performance poets, twelve film-makers and six playwrights. Submission guidelines are as follows:
Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
