East Meets West in Eastern England

East Meets East is the first international festival of Eastern European theatre in the East of England and takes place in March 2005 (March 7 – 13) bringing some of Eastern Europe’s finest productions to English stages.

Six venues in Bedford, Cambridge, Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich will host performances from five of Eastern Europe’s most exciting, accessible, colourful, culturally diverse and entertaining companies. The performances encompass puppetry, physical theatre, live music, mime and sheer exuberance! Two of the shows enjoyed massive success at the 2004 Edinburgh Festival, some have been performed many times to rapturous receptions in Europe and around the world and one is a bona fide World Premiere. With subject matter ranging from the adult to lost balloons there is something here to appeal to all ages from 3 years up.

East Meets East is the first project from a new Cambridge based arts provider, ArtKam, which has been especially created to bring the best of Eastern European theatre and music to the UK.
