Dateline: 22nd August, 2005 Fringe Comedy "Soul Destroying" Most of this year's comedy at the Edinburgh Fringe is "soul destroying", according to the Perrier Award judges who are struggling to create a shirtlist. "To be on the Perrier list, you have to be memorable," critic Kate Copstik told The Scotsman, "and to be on the shortlist you have to be very memorable. To win it, you have to be world class. Apart from Phil Nichol, I've not seen any shows that have knocked my socks off." Other judges are less kind, describing the level of humour as "silly", "flat", and "of the level of fifth-form humour", while Ruby Kurachie, editor of factual entertainment at Channel Four, added, "I have seen some soul-destroying shows." Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
