Another Fringe Venue Closes

Another Edinburgh Fringe venue has closed, leaving companies homless.

Following the withdrawal of official recognition of Cowgate Central at Wilkie House, the sudden closure of the Gateway, and the loss of Co2, Purple Venues, a small basement venue in L'Attache nightclub at the west end of Princes Street, has closed with under three weeks left to the opening of the 2005 Fringe.

Among the shows booked to appear at the venue are Between the Water and the Air, The Brighter Side of Alzheimers, Bye-Bye Barbie, The Directors Cut, Drag King Richard III , Import, My Mother Said I Never Should, Pear-Shaped at Midnight*, Possession: Macbeth, The Tales Revisited, Vasco Da Gamba and Violet's Trench.

(*This show will now be presented at the Holyrood Tavern)

A statement from the Fringe press office says that they are doing all they can to find new venues for the affected companies.
