New Edfringe Venue

BienVenue, a new venue located to be located at the Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel during Fringe 2007, is now accepting applications from performing companies.

The venue will have a programme that highlights themes of accessibility and inclusivity, in keeping with its highly accessible setting.

In this, its first year of operation, BienVenue will run one 80-seat studio theatre in the 300-bed flagship hostel of the Scottish Youth Hostel Association.

Venue Manager Graeme Monaghan, who has produced numerous theatre shows in his native Australia, chose to set up BienVenue as a charity to highlight work about accessibility and inclusivity because "the Fringe is on face value the world's most inclusive arts festival, but holding it in this marvellous mediaeval city presents barriers for many performers and patrons to fully participate in it."

The venue will feature a balanced programme of theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, and music, and encourages applications from all companies, both UK- and internationally based. Performer/Producer Liaison Rachel Lynn Brody (also a reviewer for BTG) is available to meet with interested companies in Edinburgh throughout the coming months, or over the weekend of 17th - 18th March 2007 in London.

More information about BienVenue @ ECYH, including contact information, Producer Information Packs and Applications to Perform, can be found on the company website at www.bienvenue.org.uk.
