Manifest Destiny Case Will Go to Court The controversy surrounding Welsh playwright Dic Edwards' libretto for the opera Manifest Destiny continued in the Royal Courts of Justice in The Strand in London when the Evening Standard attempted to have a libel case being brought against it by composer Keith Burstein, thrown out. The opera's writers are claiming that the Evening Standard's review of the opera at last year's Edinburgh Festival was tantamount to an accusation of glorifying terrorism. Mr. Justice Eady, in his ruling, said that the issue ought to be brought before a jury and the case will be heard in London in the spring. The opera tells the story of Palestinian suicide bomber Leila, torn between her duty, as she sees it, to the Palestinian cause and her love for London-based Jewish composer Daniel.
