Elmhurst Ballet School is to work with Disney Original Documentary, Hunting Lane Films and directors Matt Ogens and Kachi Benson on MADU, a film of a year in the life of ballet student Anthony Madu at home in Nigeria and boarding and training at the school in Birmingham.

MADU will tell Anthony Madu’s story from being discovered through a viral 44-second video that was posted online in 2020, after having grown up in an isolated community outside of Lagos and with almost no formal training, and being awarded a scholarship to Elmhurst Ballet School.

Directors Matt Ogens and Kachi Benson said, “ultimately, this is a journey of discovery, growth, belonging and acceptance, a theme we both personally relate to. Making his voice heard is our ultimate drive, and we believe Anthony’s extraordinary story will make the most captivating, emotional, and riveting film either of us have told.”
