Empty Space..Peter Brook Award 2009

The winner of the 2009 Empty Space..Peter Brook Award is Forest Fringe for "its energy in working on new plays, in new spaces on a shoestring with quality productions." It wins a cheque for £2,000.

All nominees - BAC, Soho, Minerva Chichester, The Arches Glasgow, and the Bush - receive £350 for their distinctive work.

The judging panel was : Lyn Gardner (Guardian), Dominic Cavendish (Telegraph), Mark Shenton (Sunday Express & Blog), Fiona Mountford (Evening Standard), Sam Marlowe (The Times). Consultants are: Michael Billington (Guardian), Susannah Clapp (Observer), Jeremy Kingston (The Times), Paul Taylor (The Independent), and Blanche Marvin (London TheatReviews + founder of the award).

The Dan Crawford Pub Award went to the Cock Tavern Theatre for "its constant striving to gain recognition for their new plays and for its new venue in Kilburn." This award also includes a cheque for £2,000.

The Mark Marvin Rent Subsidy Award of £1500 went to tthe Oval House/ nabakov theatre company and the Peter Brook/Equity Ensemble Award of £2000 to Fuel.
