Equity Asks for 14%

Following the decision of the representative conference last year, Equity is to ask for a minimum wage of £400 a week in all sectors of the industry in the latest round of negotiations with the TMA (for subsidised rep and commerical theatre outside of London) and the ITC (for independent theatre). This represents a 14% rise on the current minimum.

It is also asking for parity between actors and stage managers in the subsidised rep agreement, and a 10% increase in subsistence and touring allowances.

This follows the agreement on West End wages (see our news story of 26th November) which will run from 5th January this year.

The current agreements with the TMA expire this year and the ITC agreement expires in 2010.
