Stagedoor Learning: in a class of its own with the Everyman

Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre has teamed up with Stagedoor Learning to give young people an opportunity to develop their passion for the performing arts.

Starting in September 2017, Stagedoor Learning will lead a group of 20 students through a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. This is a two-year, full-time, fully funded course. It will be the only course in Gloucestershire delivered through a working theatre.

Students will give public performances at the Everyman each term and will undertake a programme of work experience. The course will be run by Jenny Cameron, a teacher and specialist leader in education with 20 years’ experience who in 2016 was shortlisted for the Times Educational Supplement drama teacher of the year.

The course is open to anyone aged between 16 and 19. Application forms can be downloaded from the Stagedoor learning web site.

Jenny Cameron said, “the impact of learning within a professional theatre environment can’t be understated. Students will gain an insight into the industry which will be incredibly beneficial not only within the course itself but for those wanting to apply for further education or training after completing the course.

“Experience like this will give students a real edge and make them stand out from the crowd.”

There will be a free taster session at the Everyman on Thursday 20 April from 10:30AM until 1PM.
