Liverpool's Everyman and Playhouse Theatres won four awards at three different events last week, including the UK's largest architecture award, the RIBA Stirling Prize.

The new Everyman also won the Best Public Building Award at the inaugural Blueprint Magazine Awards, and the UK Theatre Awards rewarded them for the best marketing campaign surrounding the reopening of the Everyman and for the best promotion of diversity in UK theatres.

Everyman & Playhouse Artistic Director Gemma Bodinetz and Executive Director Deborah Aydon said: “The Everyman was built with humanity at its heart, an intent embodied by the 105 people of Liverpool on its façade. Since we reopened, the warmth of feeling from the public to their much-loved Everyman—given a daring and brilliant rebirth from Haworth Tompkins—has been almost overwhelming.

“Ten years ago, when we embarked on this journey with Haworth Tompkins, we could never have imagined it would end in winning the Stirling Prize. They have designed a building that supplies joy beyond expectation to every visitor and those of us lucky enough to work there.”

Speaking about the two UK Theatre Awards, Bodinetz added: “We are absolutely thrilled to receive two such prestigious awards. Each in their very different ways embody the culmination of years of passion and planning. We hope that the new Everyman, so wonderfully celebrated by our marketing team, will prove to be a home to every man and woman of Liverpool.”
