Evita Revival: The Details Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical about Eva Peron, Evita, is to be revived at the Adelphi on 21st June (previews form 2nd). The show's first production, with Elaine Page in the title role, opened at the Prince Edward in January 1978, where it ran for seven years. The new production will be directed by Michael Grandage, with design by Christopher Oram and choreography by Rob Ashford, whose last production together was the the Donmar Guys and Dolls. It will star Argentinian performer Elena Roger as Eva, Philip Quast (Olivier Best Actor in a Musical for Sunday in the Park with George, The Fix and South Pacific) as Peron and Matt Rawle (Camelot, Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre, Into the Woods) as Che. The Oscar-winning song "You Must Love Me", written for Alan Parker's 1996 film version which starred Madonna, Jonathan Pryce and Antonio Banderas, will appear in the stage version for the first time. At the press launch of the show today, Andrew Lloyd Webber said, "I am delighted to welcome Michael Grandage and his team to the show which was the pinnacle of my collaboration with Tim Rice.
