North west teens and tots join Poet Laureate Carol-Ann Duffy, actress Lesley Sharp, a Doctor Who composer and Game of Thrones designer in balletLORENT’s Rapunzel at The Lowry on April 26-27.

The classic fairytale has been re-developed by Duffy, who is Professor of Contemporary Poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University.

A blend of world-class and local talent, Rapunzel boasts original music composed and performed by Doctor Who composer and four-time BAFTA nominee Murray Gold. Hand-crafted costumes inspired by themes of nature and fertility have been designed and realised by BAFTA and Emmy award-winning Game of Thrones costume designer Michele Clapton. Manchester-born actress Lesley Sharp narrates the story, and nine young people from the north west have been chosen to be part of the ensemble.

BalletLORENT is also seeking three local toddlers and their parents to join the performance for The Lowry dates and Liv Lorent is bravely inviting the chosen pre-schoolers to ‘play freely’ for an entire scene, making every performance unique.
