Fame Academy Bursaries

The BBC is offering up to twenty Fame Academy Bursaries worth a total of £150,000 in 2007 to aspiring Musical Theatre performers. The bursaries may be used to pay for tuition fees, private coaching, living expenses, travel, study abroad, even marketing. Appicants must be must be aged 17 or over on 31st March, 2007.

After the success of BBC One's Fame Academy programme, the Fame Academy Bursary was created in 2003 to allocate the funds raised by public voting. Since then over £1 million has been awarded to young musicians from a range of genres.

Nearly 800 children have received new musicial instruments and equipment. From violins and guitars to bagpipes and dj decks, young musicians all over the country have received a new instrument worth up to £1200 each.

The Education Bursary has transformed the lives of sixteen young musicians. Receiving substantial funding over a period of three years has enabled them to pursue their ambitions and get started in a career in the industry.

Building on the success of the other schemes, the Urban Music Bursary was launched in 2005. Using a network of talent scouts and working with partners within the industry, nearly fifty artists, producers, managers and promoters have received funding, training and support.

In 2006, the Fame Academy Bursary received the funds from public voting on How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?
