The Search is on for the Nation's Top Fantasy Lovers

The RSC has begun a search for the nation's ideal pairing to play Shakespeare's famous lovers Romeo and Juliet.

The Stratford-based company's online fantasy casting poll will give people the chance to sit in the director's chair and cast who they would most like to see in the roles of the passionate young lovers.

Voters have no restrictions on the people they'd like to cast. They can choose stage or film actors, television presenters, sports stars or even some of the RSC's past Romeos and Juliets.

Each person who casts a vote will be asked to answer a simple question before being entered into a prize draw. The winner will get the chance to visit Verona, the setting for Romeo and Juliet, and stay for three nights in the appropriately named Giulietta e Romeo Hotel.

Cast your votes at www.rsc.org.uk/fantasycasting. The deadline is Saturday, April 17th and the results will be announced on Friday, April 23rd, Shakespeare's birthday - but there's no guarantee that the fantasy Romeo will get to tread the boards at the RSC.

The company's new production of Romeo and Juliet opens next month as part of the Tragedies Season, with Matthew Rhys and Sian Brooke making their RSC debuts in the lead roles.
