Rites

A Manchester Contact Theatre and National Theatre of Scotland co-production, Rites explores the complex issues around female genital mutilation.

Artists Cora Bissett and Yusra Warsama have been speaking to health workers, lawyers, activists and young people affected by the practice as a basis for a piece of verbatim theatre.

Rites, from May 12-14, weaves together different perspectives to explore the complexities and misconceptions existing in a deeply-entrenched cultural initiation.
