Stephen McGann Cheryl Baker
New Footloose Tour Casting

Footloose had its debut UK tour in 2004 and will set out in the new year on a second tour prior to its transfer to the West End.

Presented in association with Wales Millennium Centre and opening there on 6th January 2006, the Broadway musical, based on the smash hit 1980s movie, plays in Cardiff through to 14th January before continuing to ten of the UK's No. 1 touring venues.

The film Footloose was released in 1984 making a global star of its lead actor, Kevin Bacon. Written by Dean Pitchford (responsible for the screenplay and lyrics for the film) and Walter Bobbie, it tells the story of city boy Ren who has to move to small town America where dancing is banned. All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town on its feet.

The show is full of dance and classic 80s hits, including Holding Out For A Hero, Almost Paradise, Let's Hear It For The Boy and the title song Footloose.

Footloose is presented by Mark Goucher (Fame, Rent, Saturday Night Fever West End and UK Tours), Michael Rose (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang London and New York), Tristan Baker (Calamity Jane, Kiss Me Kate, Love Shack) and Jason Haigh-Ellery (Snoopy The Musical, Love Shack).

The show is directed and choreographed for 2006 by Olivier award winner Karen Bruce (Fame, Saturday Night Fever, Sweet Charity).

Cast includes actor, presenter and singer Cheryl Baker (Bucks Fizz, Record Breakers) as Vi Moore, Stephen McGann (Emmerdale, The Hanging Gale) as Reverend Shaw Moore, Johnny Shentall (Hear'Say, Starlight Express UK Tour) as Chuck Cranston and Derek Hough as Ren McCormack.
