Northampton’s Royal and Derngate is working with the Northamptonshire Community Foundation and Northampton Chronicle and Echo's Fair Deal for Kids Fund to ensure that more children are able to enjoy its Christmas shows.

Throughout November and December, customers are being invited to add a gift-aided donation of £10 when making a theatre booking. Royal and Derngate will make up the difference and provide a free ticket to a disadvantaged child living in Northamptonshire. All the tickets will to go to support children and young people who live in or are at risk of being in poverty.

Rachel McGrath, grants director for Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said, “when you are in poverty one of the first things to go is hobbies. But often it’s that bit of social interaction that keeps people going. The isolation that comes with being in poverty can be devastating."

Royal and Derngate chief executive Martin Sutherland added, “this is a chance for our audiences to make someone's Christmas special this year. We really hope that those who can spare a little extra will consider making a donation to the campaign.”

Tickets for The Snow Queen and Cinderella will be available for a number of performances throughout December.

Further information is available by calling the box office on 01604 624811 and at the Royal and Derngate web site.
