Herald Angel Award statuette

First Herald Angels Awards

The Bank of Scotland Herald Angels Awards, decided on by a panel of journalists from the Herald, were set up to reward performers, producers, venues or artists for their achievements during the Fringe and, like the Fringe First Awards, some are given at the end of every week.

The first week's awards go to:

  • Venus as a Boy, the latest production by National Theatre of Scotland at Traverse
  • Guy Masterson's production of Follow Me at Assembly @ George Street
  • Woyzeck at Aurora Nova
  • Victoria, also at Aurora Nova
  • Kidsamonium at Assembly @ St George's West

The Herald Archangel Award, given to someone who has exhibited outstanding or sustained excellence, went to Tim Crouch for the site specific piece England.

Finally the Little Devil Award goes to those who demonstrate a 'show must go on attitude' when disaster strikes. It was awarded to the technical team from Assembly who came to the aid of fledgling venue The Green Room at the beginning of the festival.
