More Edfringe London Transfers

As the Best of the Fest runs at the Riverside Studios, three other 2008 Edinburgh Fringe successes have announced London premieres.

From 28th to 31st January, Quuup Productions bring On the Island of Aars to the Pleasance, Islington. With book and lyrics by Chris Larner and music by Mark Stevens, it is a comedy musical set on a remote Scottish island. The first visitor in twenty-three years, a sexually rapacious Dutch Health-and-Safety officer and a woman, arrives to disrupt the life of the island.

The production was nominated in every category for the Fringe's MTM musical awards - best lyrics, best music, best new production, best book, most promising new work.

After the Islington run, it will go on a national tour

From 3rd to 29th March Ireland's Druid ensemble bring Enda Walsh's The New Electric Ballroom to the Riverside Studios, after its Australian premiere in the Perth International Arts Festival, and will then take it on a tour of Ireland.

The New Electric Ballroom is a fable of the emotionally stultifying effects of small-town life. Three sisters living in a remote fishing village are trapped in the years that have passed since their halcyon days at the New Electric Ballroom and are still obsessed by darker memories of something resembling romance. In The New Electric Ballroom, possibilities are endless, hopes are high and opening your heart might be the one thing that saves you.

The Herald Archangel Award was given to Enda Walsh at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe for his contribution to the arts in Edinburgh.

The Caravan, which was originally performed at the Pleasance where it won a Fringe First, runs from 10th until 28th February in a caravan parked in the middle of Sloane Square under the auspices of the Royal Court.

Produced by Look Left Look Right from an original concept by Mimi Poskitt, the site-specific piece looks at the effects of the 2007 floods which forced many families out of their homes and into temporary accommodation. It is based on interviews with those affected.
