Durham’s Gala Theatre has announced the cast of this year’s panto, Aladdin, which will transport audiences to exotic locations such as China, Egypt—and Sacriston.

For the fifth year, the show is written and directed by Neil Armstrong and Paul Hartley who also star as the evil Abanazar and the daft laundry lad Wishee Washee respectively.

Paul Dunn, who first appeared in a Gala panto as Ugly Sister Sweaty in Cinderella (2015)—the first panto with Armstrong and Hartley at the helm—returns as Widow Twanky and he is joined by David Hosie as Aladdin, Eleanor Chaganis as Princess Jasmine, Pip Chamberlin as the Genie and Kylie Ann Ford as Chief Inspector Tai Chi.

Performances of Aladdin will take place at various times between Thursday 21 November and Sunday 5 January. This includes British Sign Language performances on Sunday 8 December and 2 January at 1:00, and a captioned performance on 2 January at 1:00. There will also be a relaxed performance without loud noises or flashing lights for people with autism and sensory issues on 27 November at 1:30.

Tickets are priced from £7 to £18, with family tickets starting at £54.
