"Inappropriate Use" Denied

The alleged all-night drink and drugs party at Durham's Gala Theatre simply did not happen, a spokesman for the theatre has said.

"There was an authorised party that evening," said marketing and PR manager Ed Tutty, "but drinks were not from the theatre's stock: all alcohol was brought in by individuals.

"And the party did not last all night. In fact, the place was locked up by quarter past midnight. It has been a long day - man of those who were there had been working since eight that morning - and everyone was shattered."

As for the allegations of drug use, Tutty described them as nonsense. "There have been rumours of marijuana cakes and goodness knows what else," he said. "It's rubbish. It simply didn't happen."
