A scene from Ubu

GAP Buys Ubu on eBay

Following a week of ferocious bidding on ebay, Theatre Modo has announced that the winner in the auction for their own private performance of Ubu is GAP.

GAP has bought the show to mark the opening of their new premises in St George’s Cross in Glasgow. A spokesman for GAP said, “What better way to drum up some interest, celebrate successfully getting the project off the ground, and rope in some punters, than with a performance of Ubu?”

Actor Nick Underwood, who came up with the idea originally, declared, “This is a great result for us. Not only do we get to perform the show again back in Glasgow, but will also benefit from the profile of the event, and help to promote a company that we really admire.”

The show will take place on the weekend of 27th/28th in St George’s Cross. GAP and Theatre Modo are still finalising details of timings and exact location.

The show will be open to colleagues, employees and friends. GAP are keen to stress that the event is open to everyone and will be personally inviting the local residents to this rip-roaring show featuring Ma and Pa Ubu, Fuquhar, King Connell et al.

GAP (Glasgow Autonomous Project) strives for a sustainable society where all people are free to live their lives as they see fit without fear of oppression, persecution or marginalization. The new social centre will be a place to have a cup of tea in a friendly, non-commercial space, read a book or magazine. A meeting place for wayward souls. A resource centre for groups fighting for autonomy, freedom, solidarity, equality, sustainability, mutual aid and peace against poverty, war and oppression.
