Looking for a Genius

"We're looking for a genius" was how Richard Findlay, chairman of the board of directors of the National Theatre of Scotland, described the person who will be the first director of NToS. He was speaking after the company's first board meeting and announced that the first job adverts will appear in the national press next month.

This "genius", he said, needs wide experience of production, of developing and nurturing new writing, and first class administrative and financial skills. "We are casting the new wide," he added.

The person appointed will be both artistic and executive director of the body which will have a budget of £7.5m over the next two years to commission new work.
