Dateline: 7th January, 2009
Young Hearts at the Globe Young Hearts is the title given to the 2009 season at Shakespeare's Globe. It's all about, says artistic director Dominic Dromgoole, "the exuberance and the exhilaration of young hearts bursting out of themselves." Running from 23rd April to 10th October, the season features four Shakespeare plays (Romeo and Juliet, Troilus and Cressida, As You Like It and Love's Labour's Lost), three modern plays (a revival of Ché Walkers The Frontline, Frank McGuinness new version of Euripides romance Helen and Trevor Griffiths A New World), and two open-air touring productions (A Midsummer Nights Dream and The Comedy of Errors). Romeo and Juliet (23rd April to 23rd August) is directed by Dominic Dromgoole , who also directs Love's Labour's Lost (25th September to 10th October). No director has yet been announced for either Troilus and Cressida (12th July to 20th September) or As You Like It (30th May to 10th October). Matthew Dunster again directs The Frontline (5th to 23rd May). Helen runs from 2nd to 23rd August and A New World, the "moving story of the life and loves of Thomas Paine", from 29th August to 9th October . Dream runs at the Globe from 8th to11th July and Comedy of Errors from 26th to29th May, but touring dates and venues are yet to be announced. Booking opens for all productions on 14th February.
