Globe 2011 Season Shakespeare's Globe has announced its 2011 season, entitled The Word is God, celebrating the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible which was completed in 1611. The theatre season will commence with a cover-to-cover reading of The Bible over the Easter weekend and a small-scale touring production of Hamlet which opens at the Globe on Shakespeares birthday, 23rd April, before it takes to the road for a UK and European tour. The first main-house production will be Alls Well That Ends Well, which has never before performed at the Globe, soon followed by Much Ado About Nothing. The seasons theme will be followed through with the first Globe production of Christopher Marlowes Doctor Faustus, tand, later in August, The Globe Mysteries will present a new perspective on The Mystery Plays, using the Globes auditorium to look anew at the earliest form of English drama, using street theatre and processional performance. Howard Brentons Anne Boleyn returns to the Globe following its 2010 sell-out run and the season will be brought to a rude and rowdy climax with The God of Soho by Chris Hannan, a satire on modern living, set in contemporary, suburban England. The 2010 revival of The Merry Wives of Windsor will embark on on the Globes first large-scale UK tour, commencing on 16th November in Milton Keynes (16 20 November), followed by performances in Norwich (23 27 November), Richmond (30 November 4 December) and Bath (6 11 December). Preceding the 2011 summer theatre season, the theatre will present Winter Wassail in January four special performances from the Gabrieli Consort & Players in a musical celebration of the New Year. which will include seasonal pieces inspired by words from Shakespeare, Hardy and Chaucer, with selected readings. Performances are at 2pm and 5pm on Saturday 1st January; 4pm on Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd January. The season's schedule is:
