Dateline: 29th September, 2005
Shakespeare's Globe's Season of the World and the Underworld ends on Sunday 2nd October with a matinee performance of The Tempest, but that will not be the end of productions at the Bankside theatre. For a limited run - from 6th to 16th October - the company will revive last year's Measure for Measure before it sets out on a tour of the United States, visiting Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and New York. However it will not be quite the same production, in that the mixed cast of last year will be replaced by an all-male cast, featuring Mark Rylance as the Duke, Edward Hogg as Isabella, Colin Hurley as Lucio, Liam Brennan as Angelo, Bill Stewart as Escaus and John Dougall as Pompey. This will be Rylance's last performance with the company before he leaves the post of artistic director at the end of the year and is replaced by Dominic Dromgoole. Rylance will have been in post for ten years. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
