Kings and Rogues at the Globe Details have been announced of Shakespeare's Globe's 2010 Kings and Rogues theatre season which will consist of Macbeth, Henry VIII, Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Anne Boleyn by Howard Brenton and Bedlam by Nell Leyshon. The season opens with Macbeth (23 April 27 June ) directed by Lucy Bailey with choreography by Javier De Frutos. Elliot Cowan. (Streetcar at the Donmar) stars. From 15 May to 21 August Mark Rosenblatt directs Henry VIII, the play which burned down the original Globe. Dominic Rowan, currently in The Misanthrope, plays the king. Dominic Dromgoole directs Henry IV Parts 1 and 2. Part 1 runs from 6 June to 2 October and Part 2 from 3 July to 3 October. Jamie Parker plays Prince Hal and William Gaunt Worcester and Shallow. Brenton's Anne Boleyn, which will be directed by John Dove, will run from 24 July to 21 August. From 14 August to 2 October, the Globe revives Christopher Luscombe's 2008 production of The Merry Wives of Windsor and the final production of the season, Nell Leyshon's Bedlam, directed by Jessica Swale, will run from 5 September to 1 October. The 2009 touring productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream, directed by Raz Shaw, and The Comedy of Errors, directed by Rebecca Gatward, will will exchange venue circuits to reach new audiences and both will play two separate weeks at Shakespeares Globe. The theatre's Artstic Director Dominic Dromgoole, commented, "Our building continues to embrace the most democratic audience in the world all of us a rogue and a king in our own way much like William Shakespeare. The 2010 theatre season offers a flavour of some of his wild, warm, violent and virtuous kings and rogues plus new creations from two of our most rousing, contemporary playwrights. We are proud to continue our national and international touring, reaching out to new audiences for the Globe."
